## What Assessments Are

An assessment shows your fit for a specific expert pool, and it's one of the factors used to match you to projects in that domain.

## How It Works

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose a Pool">
    Your Assessments tab lists the expert pools currently open.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Take the Assessment">
    Each pool has one assessment, built to resemble real project work rather than an abstract multiple choice test.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait to Be Matched">
    You won't see an explicit pass or fail after submitting. Projects are assigned based on assessment fit, so we'll follow up if a relevant opportunity comes up.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Assessments cannot be retaken or reassessed. Submit with the same care you'd give real project work, since there's only one attempt.
</Warning>

## Frequently Asked Questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How long does an assessment take?">
    This varies by pool. You'll see a time estimate before you start, so you can plan around it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Are assessments paid?">
    Assessments are unpaid.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I take more than one pool's assessment?">
    Yes. You're welcome to take the assessment for any pool you're interested in. Each pool is assessed independently, so a result from one pool doesn't carry over to another.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How will I know if I passed?">
    We don't send an explicit pass or fail notice. Not hearing back right away doesn't mean anything went wrong. It usually just means there isn't a matching project yet, and we'll follow up as soon as one comes up for your pool.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does passing an assessment guarantee me a project?">
    A strong fit on a pool's assessment makes you a great candidate for projects in that space. We connect contributors to projects as opportunities come up, so timing depends on current project needs.
